Lexicon 1.8.0 Highlights
Lexicon 1.8.0 is now live! This update has been in the works for over six months and includes 764 commits, countless bug fixes, and a number of powerful new features. It’s one of the biggest updates we’ve ever released.
Here’s what’s new in 1.8.0.
Djay Pro Support (Beta)
Lexicon now supports Djay Pro, currently in beta. While it still needs some work, it already works well enough to start managing your Djay Pro library through Lexicon. There are still some issues regarding beatgrids, since the Djay fluid beatgrid system is very different to how Lexicon works but it's super close.
As this is still in beta, please report bugs & feedback to help improve the integration over time.
New RGB Waveform
The waveform display in Lexicon has been completely redesigned and rebuild. The new RGB waveform works better visually and has more zoom detail. This makes it easier and more accurate to set your grids and "read" your music. It also has several cool color options! It’s not just a visual upgrade—it also improves the overall usability when working with cue points and beatgrids.
Special thanks to Cato 💪 for all the help here!
New Energy Analyzer
Lexicon now includes a brand new energy analyzer, your tracks can be analyzed with key, BPM, beatgrid and now energy as well.
Beat Analyzer Upgrade
We’ve also introduced a new first beat analyzer. This is an upgrade to the existing BPM/beatgrid analyzer. This update significantly improves the detection of the downbeat of a track. We've always recommended Traktor for the best beatgrids in the past, but no more. We think it's now on the same level or even above some of the DJ apps beatgrid analyzers!
Complete Cue Point Generator Rewrite
The cue point generator has been rebuilt entirely. It’s now around ten times faster and has more accurate results.
We've also added an option to auto generate cues when loading a track, if the track has no cues yet.
Smaller Improvements
In addition to the major updates, we’ve added a number of smaller features and quality-of-life improvements:
-
Option to auto analyze new tracks when they’re added
-
Option to merge selected tracks
-
ID3 tags can now be written automatically when track tags are changed
-
Added an Action Center (CTRL or CMD+Spacebar) to quickly control or navigate Lexicon
-
The track browser now highlights harmonically compatible keys
-
Support for Apple Music
- Countless bug fixes and more small improvements...
Thanks to everyone who helped test the beta and provided feedback. As always, this release is a result of your input and support.
Lexicon 1.9.0 is already in development... The next version will have fewer features, but will still be huge news!
